Fund to create an integrated system of research and innovation infrastructures

What is the goal of the investment?

The measure aims to enhance knowledge transfer developed in high-level economic research institutes, thereby stimulating innovation.  To this end, the fund will finance the realisation of several infrastructures which shall address the content cross-contamination which has occurred between academia and business.

Additional details

At least 30 projects will be financed- to build new structures or strengthen existing ones. 30 research managers will also be assigned to the oversight of these integrated innovation and research systems.  Financed projects shall pertain to the following areas: quantum mechanics, advanced materials, photonics, life science, artificial intelligence and energy transition; and they may not be connected to fossil fuel, or pertain to the EU Emissions Trading system, unless they entail greenhouse emissions well under the most important benchmarks. The projects cannot pertain to landfills or incinerators either, or be in any way associated with the generation of long-term hazardous waste for the environment.
