What is the goal of the investment?
To encourage the emergence and growth of 30 Green Communities, that is, local communities coordinated and associated with each other that want to implement joint plans for sustainable development from the point of view of energy and the environment, as well as economic and social.
- Reduce the gaps in standards of living
- Gender equality
Water, forests, countryside. It is starting from these resources that the project intends to promote sustainable and resilient development of the rural territories and mountains, which want to exploit the wealth at their disposal in a balanced way: the emergence and the growth of local communities will be favoured, also those that are coordinated and/or associated (Green communities), giving them support for the development, financing and implementation of sustainable development plans from the energy, environment, economic and social perspective. The plans will include, for the 30 pilot Green Communities, the integrated and certified management of the agro-forestry heritage and water resources; the production of energy from local renewable sources, such as hydroelectric micro-facilities, biomass, biogas, wind, co-generation and biomethane; the development of sustainable tourism; the sustainable construction and management of buildings and infrastructure of a modern mountain region; energy efficiency and the intelligent integration of facilities and networks; the sustainable development of zero waste production activities (zero waste production); the integration of transportation services; the development of a sustainable model for agricultural businesses.
