What is the goal of the investment?
To perform preventive measures on 4000 km of infrastructure in order to increase the resilience of the electrical grid, thereby reducing the duration and extent of power outages during extreme climactic events.
In the last few years, the electrical network has shown to be severely exposed, especially in certain northern and central areas of Italy, that suffer from ever increasing severe climactic events due to climate change. There have been very negative consequences for inland areas, where, moreover, the population is on average older and the risks caused by a prolonged interruption of supplies (even for several days) are particularly serious. Investment has therefore been finalized to improve the resiliency of the distribution network in cases of very high winds, falling trees, ice, heat waves, floods, and hydrogeological risks. The impact will be a positive one even at a socio-economic level; it will be less expenses to fix the damages and costs for economical activities and extended interruption tied to social activities can be avoided.
Fewer prolonged power outages
About 4,000 km of more resilient electrical grid
Smaller grid restoration costs
