What is the goal of the investment?
Reorganise, rationalise and enhance the activities of 60% of centres responsible for the development of projects, providing advanced technological services to businesses and the transfer of said technology. The objective is to increase technological services, in particular for companies, especially the more specialised ones and those that are in the field of innovative manufacturing.
- Reduce the gaps in standards of living
The research institutions involved are the Competency Centres, Digital Innovation Hubs, Digital Innovation Centres. In particular, the Competency Centres and Hubs will increase from 8 to 50. The first ones are partnerships between the public and private entities selected based on the capacity of creating innovative instruments for the digital transformation in the scope of processes, products and business models in cooperation with universities, research centres, and technological advanced businesses. The second ones will primarily serve to provide training, technological brokering, testing and auditing activities, and assist with access to financing. In particular, 4500 small and medium-sized companies will be supported through testing and training services, and assistance with access to capital. Even in this case, the companies may not undertake projects associated with fossil fuels, or projects within the scope of the EU Emissions Trading System, unless they entail greenhouse gas emissions well under the main benchmarks. The projects cannot pertain to landfills or incinerators either, or be in any way associated with production of long-term hazardous waste for the environment.
