What is the goal of the investment?
The goal is to create high-level centres at the national and regional levels to conduct environmental and food related analyses, in support of hospitals and the local healthcare authorities (with at least 190 structures in the territory), offer continuous training to the healthcare staff, create a national network that holds at least 50% of the network database and information on health, environment and climate and strengthen at least 75% of the territorial structures and hospitals.
- Reduce the gaps in standards of living
- Gender equality
A series of synergistic investments have been defined to strengthen the capacity, effectiveness, resilience and equity of the country in addressing current and future health impacts associated with both environmental and climate risks: • the overall strengthening of SNPS-SNPA structures and services at national, regional and local level, improving infrastructure, human and technological capacities and applied research; • the development and implementation of specific pilot operational programmes to define integrated health-environment-climate intervention models in two selected sites of national interest; • university-level training and a national programme of continuous training on subjects related to health-environment-climate; • the promotion and financing of applied research with multidisciplinary approaches in specific intervention areas related to health-environment-climate; • the national SNPA-SNPS digital network platform. The institutional capacity of the new SNPS-SNPA system will depend on an adaptation of the infrastructure and human resources, training and research structures of the system, in order to ensure the indispensable synergies and functions of the national health service in support of healthy and sustainable development.
