Additional details

The Italian audiovisual sector suffers from the competitiveness of international cinema, despite the excellence of its productions as recognised all over the world. The restrictions imposed by the pandemic also inflicted serious damage. The rebirth of the film industry is therefore planned based on three lines of action:

• Set-up of new studios and recovery of existing ones, together with the construction of new high-level theatres with additional buildings

• Innovative investment to enhance the production and training activities of the Experimental Centre for Cinematography, including new tools for audiovisual production, internationalisation and cultural exchanges. The creation of a photochemical laboratory for the conservation of films will also be planned

• Activities for the development of infrastructure (virtual live sets for production) for both professional and educational use through e-learning. Professional and digital skills and competences will be strengthened in the entire audiovisual sector, in order to foster technological transformation in a more efficient and on-going way.

What are the benefits?

The audiovisual sector will be able to benefit from the investment through:
  • Relaunch of the Cinecittà film studios to improve the quality and quantity of offerings and compete with major international competitors
  • Bolstering of the activities of the Golden Cinematography Experimental Centre Foundation with new infrastructure and e-learning
  • Strengthening of professional skills in the audiovisual sector related to the technological transition
